DC SIR Partnered Donations

DC SIR is a non-profit, volunteer-run network of foster homes in the Washington DC area. One of the largest expenses in our rescue, next to medical bills, is for raw food. DC SIR provides food and treats to all our foster homes to ensure optimal health and healing for all our rescues. We now have a financially-feasible raw food wish list thanks to The Big Bad Woof! We are grateful for their generosity and partnership in hosting our donated food.

DC SIR acknowledges and uses three types of raw feeding approaches for our rescues. WPMR/BARF and NRC/Ancestral calculated diets are used for our severe allergy and special needs dogs by experienced raw feeders to ensure nutrient-dense complete and balanced meals over time. This is typically in conjunction with other therapeutic feeding and usually involves preliminary medical tests for specific diseases and deficiencies. We require fosters to feed prepackaged frozen raw and as treats give dehydrated and freeze-dried raw. Our emphasis is in supporting a diverse microbiome through nutrient-dense, species-appropriate, low-inflammatory foods.

With massive medical bills looming for some of our rescues and the need to pay off mounting vet bills, we are hoping to divert food costs with help from our fans. You can be anywhere to donate food and there are no delivery costs. Donations are shipped directly to the store and picked up by fosters as needed.
