The History: The original home was built in 1919 and partially operated as a market and for over 50 years the owners slowly expanded this unassuming market into a full-scale grocery score.
A one-stop Mom & Pop shop and a neighborhood haven, throughout a volatile 20th century Broad Branch Market was able to beat competitors such as Safeway and Piggly Wiggly by offering a unique delivery service with the help of a unique individual, Mr. Percy Edwards, better known as ‘Curly.'
Curly, who worked at the market for nearly 50 years, would make deliveries to homes in the area. Nowadays the owner Tracy Stannard carries on this legacy of neighborhood service.
